About
Servants to Asia's Urban Poor is a faith-based organisation based in Quezon City, Philippines working on community development, poverty & hunger, religion & faith.
Servants to Asia's Urban Poor is an international network of Christian communities that live and work in the slums of Asia and in inner-city areas of the West. Its members live alongside poor urban residents in Asian megacities, aiming to bring hope and justice through faith in Jesus Christ, in partnership with neighbours, local groups and other organisations. Its teams are based in the Philippines, Indonesia, India and Cambodia, with linking teams and support teams in North America, New Zealand, the Philippines and Switzerland. The network began in the early 1980s in a Manila squatter settlement and has also worked in two Western countries. It offers short-term immersion and internships in which participants live with local families in poor communities, and it publishes writings, videos and resources on its Christian beliefs and values. Its stated principles include incarnation, simplicity, servanthood, community and wholism, and its values include grace, celebration, beauty, rest and creativity. The organisation describes itself as ecumenical and affirms historic Christian creeds.
