Sociedade Portuguesa de Astronomia is a non-profit association based in Porto, Portugal working on science & research, education.
The Sociedade Portuguesa de Astronomia is the main representative body of the Portuguese astronomy community. Based in Porto, it promotes the development of astronomy in Portugal through a national meeting for researchers and students, a national astronomy olympiad for schoolchildren, webinars, outreach projects and public documentaries. It also represents Portuguese astronomers in international bodies, including the International Astronomical Union and the European Astronomical Society, and supports research visibility and science communication. Membership is open to professional astronomers, students and enthusiasts.
