København V, Denmark
About
Founded in 1949, SOS Børnebyerne is a non-governmental organisation based in København V, Denmark working on children & youth, education, humanitarian aid & disaster relief +3 more.
SOS Børnebyerne is a Danish branch of SOS Children's Villages, a private humanitarian child-focused organisation working in more than 130 countries. Since 1949 it has worked to give orphaned and vulnerable children a loving home and secure upbringing in family-based SOS villages, and it also runs prevention work that strengthens struggling families so children are not separated from their parents. Its work covers education, health, and stable family life, and it responds to crises such as the wars in Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan. Support comes mainly from private donors, including sponsors, companies and foundations, with a stated aim of spending no more than 10 percent on administration. The organisation also advocates for children's rights with governments and authorities, and runs school materials and volunteer programmes in Denmark. Its head office is in Copenhagen.
