SPEA (Sociedade Portuguesa para o Estudo das Aves) is a Portuguese non-profit association dedicated to the study and conservation of birds and nature. It works to protect bird species and their habitats, runs environmental education activities for schools and the public, operates environmental centres in Lisbon, Madeira and the Azores, and organises birdwatching guided visits, festivals and volunteer activities. It also runs campaigns and petitions on nature and environmental legislation, and invites members, donors, volunteers and companies to support its work across mainland Portugal and the Portuguese islands.
