Speranța pentru România (SPRO) is a Romanian humanitarian association founded in 2009 in Sepreuș, Arad county. It began in 2007 by providing hot meals and food parcels to poor elderly people in Oravița, Caraș-Severin. Today it provides humanitarian and social aid across Romania, with a focus on children with cancer and leukaemia, street children and elderly people, poor families with many children, widowed mothers and orphans. Aid is mainly delivered as direct support and goods, and is funded through online and bank donations, bread donation campaigns, corporate sponsorship contracts and the redirection of 3.5% of personal income tax to the association. The organisation runs individual fundraising campaigns for beneficiaries, publishes financial and video reports on how donations are used, and operates a charity shop and an emergency fund for urgent medical costs.
