Giessen, Netherlands
About
Sulalam is a charity based in Giessen, Netherlands working on poverty & hunger, community development, employment & skills +3 more.
Sulalam is a Dutch foundation (stichting) with an ANBI public-benefit status that runs a small coconut oil production business in a village in the far south of Sulawesi, Indonesia. It buys mature coconuts from local residents at fair prices, produces virgin coconut oil and other coconut products, and uses the work to create jobs in a area with very little employment and high poverty. Profits are reinvested in the village and in local programmes covering education, housing, food and health care, including a planned clinic and health information. Products are sold in the Netherlands and Indonesia, and donations support its projects. The foundation is run by Indonesian management with volunteer board members in the Netherlands.
