Monumentenwacht Nederland

Monumentenwacht Nederland is a non-profit network based in Maastricht, Netherlands working on heritage, community development.

Monumentenwacht Nederland is the national umbrella of the provincial Monumentenwachten in the Netherlands, operating under the working name MonumentenwachtNL. Each province has an independent Monumentenwacht that carries out periodic building inspections of monuments and gives independent maintenance advice to owners and managers of heritage, including historic interiors, green monuments, archaeological sites and sustainability. The network also represents its members' interests, offers a platform for sharing knowledge and expertise, and publishes maintenance guides. The work is carried out without profit motive; most provincial Monumentenwachten receive a provincial subsidy that allows them to offer services at a low rate. Monumentenwacht was founded in 1973 as a foundation and has existed for 50 years. Its activities cover the Netherlands, and the network also works with Monumentenwacht Vlaanderen on joint initiatives.
