About

Founded in 2003, Tammenlehvän Perinneliitto is a non-profit network based in Helsinki, Finland working on heritage.

Tammenlehvän Perinneliitto is a national association in Finland that promotes national unity and defence will, preserves the cultural heritage of the Tammenlehvä generation (the Finnish wartime generation of 1939–1945) and continues support work for veterans. Founded in 2003 by veteran and war-invalid organisations, the union acts as an umbrella for 27 regional heritage associations across Finland, one of which operates in Sweden. Under the direction of the Ministry of Defence, it is responsible for veteran heritage work and coordinates it regionally. Its activities include the publication of the Kenttäpostia magazine, an online heritage archive at sotiemmeperinne.fi with stories, videos and historical material about the 1939–1945 wars, and a medal and insignia service. The organisation also runs a fundraising effort for veterans and their widows, and supports education projects on veteran heritage.
