About
Founded in 1977, UFF-Humana is a non-profit association based in Køge, Denmark working on international development, health, education +2 more.
UFF-Humana is a Danish association founded in 1977 by students and teachers from Den Rejsende Højskole in Tvind. It supports development projects in poor countries, mainly in southern Africa and Guinea-Bissau, covering health (including HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis), education, food security and sustainable agriculture. Funding comes mainly from collecting and selling second-hand clothing in Denmark, through its own second-hand shops and textile sales, with the surplus donated to development work, environmental work and public information. The association runs around 800 clothing containers in Jutland and Zealand, reports collected volumes to the Danish waste data system, and has an independent consultant verify where collected textiles go. It also works on textile waste sorting, public education on development and environmental issues, and support for partner organisations through local partners such as DAPP Zimbabwe and ADPP Guinea-Bissau. UFF-Humana and Tvind share an origin but are separate legal and economic entities.
