About
Founded in 1977, Vendsyssel Tidendes Fond is a grant-making foundation based in Hjørring, Denmark working on democracy & civil society, community development, arts & culture +4 more.
Vendsyssel Tidendes Fond is a Danish grant-making foundation established in 1977 to support public-benefit (almenvelgørende) projects in the Vendsyssel region of northern Denmark. It carries on the legacy of the newspaper Dagbladet Vendsyssel Tidende, which was merged into Aalborg Stiftstidende in 1999, and promotes a free, enlightened and active democracy. The foundation awards grants (legater) for local projects such as community facilities, cultural and educational initiatives, youth participation and senior activities, giving priority to projects with local relevance. Applications are considered twice a year, at board meetings in April and October, and approved grants are published on the website. Past supported projects include an information board at Hulsig Station, a sculpture and black tower restoration in Hirtshals, a musical garden at Ålbæk Kulturhus, and a campsite shelter at Præstbro.
