It was founded on 14 February 2019 and grew out of the earlier event volunteer group Wilde Erdbeeren, which supported local organisations and helped people with disabilities take part in events. The association works on the principle of 'Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe' (help towards self-help). It aims to help people in difficult life situations quickly and without bureaucracy, by bundling the resources, skills and networks of its members and supporters. Its activities include practical everyday help such as moving, cleaning, repairing and renovating, advice on living situations, and referrals to trusted local providers. It also accepts donations in kind and financial gifts, which it says are used where they are needed. The association states that it finances its work entirely through its own resources and supporters, including small and medium-sized enterprises, other associations and volunteers, and does not rely on state subsidies. Its stated focus includes social inequality and poverty in Switzerland.
