VIA IURIS

Founded in 2006, VIA IURIS is a non-profit association based in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia working on justice & legal aid, democracy & civil society, environment & climate.

VIA IURIS is a Slovak civic association working on rule of law, access to justice and public interest law. It provides legal aid in public interest cases, including environmental disputes such as motorway, waste, dam and hydropower projects. It also runs advocacy campaigns on legislation, the judiciary, the prosecution service and the Constitutional Court, publishes manuals and analyses, and provides training for judges. Its public-facing tools include a petition platform and a civic guide to legal procedures. The organisation was formed from earlier civic programmes dating back to 1993 and became VIA IURIS in 2006. It is based in Banská Bystrica with an office in Bratislava and works mainly in Slovakia.
