Võrtsjärve Kalanduspiirkond

Võrtsjärve Kalanduspiirkond is a non-profit association based in Rannu-Jõesuu, Estonia working on community development, environment & climate, nature & wildlife conservation.

MTÜ Võrtsjärve Kalanduspiirkond is an independent, non-profit association founded voluntarily by legal entities, sole proprietors and local municipalities in Tartu and Viljandi counties around Lake Võrtsjärv in Estonia. It operates as a fisheries local action group, aiming to promote the sustainable development of the lake's fishing area. Its work includes preparing and implementing a fisheries area development strategy, organising and evaluating project application rounds under the EMKF 2021-2027 period, supporting local initiatives in the fishing sector, and running information days, training, study visits and cooperation projects. It is also a member of the international Living Lakes network. The association publishes a monthly newsletter and has coordinated tourism and local food initiatives such as a regional recipe collection.
