About

Founded in 2011, Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is a charity based in Rocky View County, Canada working on animal welfare, nature & wildlife conservation.

Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is a non-profit sanctuary near Cochrane, Alberta, Canada, on 160 acres of land. It was created in June 2011 to raise public awareness and education about wolfdogs and wolves in the wild. The sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates wolfdogs that have been neglected, abandoned or otherwise displaced, and provides them with lifelong care in packs across large natural enclosures. It currently houses around 55 resident wolfdogs. Its education work focuses on the wolfdog:wolf relationship, the responsible ownership of wolfdogs, and the reduction of backyard breeding. Public visits, including self-guided walks, intro tours, interactive tours and photography tours, are a main source of income that funds the sanctuary's care, rescue and education work. The sanctuary also runs a monthly donor programme, animal sponsorships, annual memberships, a gift shop and fundraising events, and it accepts donated goods and vehicles. Its wolfdog education is aimed at the general public, families, schools and groups.
