About
Yaowawit School is a foundation based in Kapong, Thailand working on education, children & youth.
Yaowawit School is a non-profit homestay school in the rainforest of Phang Nga Province, southern Thailand, about 135 km from Phuket. It provides free boarding, education and care for children from underprivileged families, many of whom were neglected before arriving. The school serves around 138 children aged roughly 3 to 18, offering the Thai curriculum, English programmes, permaculture classes and pre-vocational academies in hospitality and agriculture. It was founded by the Childrens World Academy Foundation, registered in Germany and Thailand, and was inaugurated in April 2006 under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The school was originally set up to help children affected by the tsunami and has since widened its reach to underprivileged children in education and society. Most students come from Phang Nga, Surat Thani, Krabi, Phuket and Ranong. Its main financial support comes from charities and businesses in Germany and other European countries. The school also runs a lodge, restaurant and farm, whose income supports the children.
