About
Founded in 1905, Zürcher Heimatschutz is a non-profit association based in Zürich, Switzerland working on heritage, environment & climate.
The Zürcher Heimatschutz (ZVH) is a non-profit association founded in 1905 and active at cantonal level in Zürich, Switzerland. It works to preserve characteristic townscapes, buildings and cultural landscapes, and to support the careful further development of the canton's built heritage. Its voluntary building committee reviews construction projects affecting protected sites and heritage-relevant buildings across the canton, excluding the cities of Zürich and Winterthur, where its sub-sections operate. The association runs an annual programme of guided tours, events and publications on building culture, and accepts donations and legacies. It has around 2,300 members and is one of the largest sections of the Schweizer Heimatschutz. Its foundation, the Stiftung Zürcher Heimatschutz, works to preserve and restore heritage, nature and landscape objects in the canton.
