Founded in 2006, Acogen is a co-op headquartered in Spain with approximately 50-200 employees specializing in Biomass.

Acogen is the Spanish Association of Cogeneration (Asociación Española de Cogeneración), established in October 2006 through integration of three regional cogeneration associations. The organization represents the cogeneration sector in Spain, including 97 industrial cogeneration groups, three major industrial sectors, and 36 service and equipment supply companies. Members operate over 3,400 MW of installed cogeneration capacity. Cogeneration technology contributes 11% of Spain's national electricity generation and enables production of 20% of industrial GDP. The sector supports over 200,000 direct jobs. Acogen advocates for favorable regulatory frameworks, participates in legislative processes, and organizes congresses and technical seminars. The association provides consulting services, market information, and networking opportunities for members. Key focus areas include efficiency improvements, emissions reduction (currently avoiding 4 million tonnes of CO2 annually), water conservation (25 million m³ annually), and integration with renewable energy systems including hydrogen-ready technologies.
