About
Founded in 2017, Agepp is a private headquartered in Lavey-Village, Switzerland specializing in Geothermal.
Agepp SA (Alpine Geothermal Power Production) is a Swiss renewable energy company established in 2017 as a public-private partnership to develop and operate a hydrothermal geothermal project at Lavey-les-Bains in the Rhône Valley. The project is unique in Switzerland and represents a key demonstration of geothermal viability under the federal Energy Strategy 2050. The company operates a deep borehole system (singlet configuration) reaching up to 3,000 meters depth to extract geothermal water at 110°C with a flow rate of 40 l/s. The extracted heat is valorized through an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) power plant for electricity generation and direct heat supply to the Lavey thermal baths. The project received CHF 12 million in federal funding from the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (OFEN) and CHF 1.5 million from the Canton of Vaud. Electricity production (4.2 GWh gross annually) is sold to Swissgrid under the cost-recovery feed-in tariff (RPC) program. Thermal energy (15.5 GWh) supplies heating and geothermal water to the Lavey baths, with plans for future district heating networks and residual heat valorization.
