About
Agripv-bw is a government headquartered in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany specializing in Solar.
The Model Region Agrivoltaics for Baden-Württemberg is an interdisciplinary research project led by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) with over 20 partner organizations. Funded by the Baden-Württemberg state ministries for Environment, Climate and Energy, and Food, Rural Affairs and Consumer Protection, the project aims to advance agrivoltaic technology expansion across the region. Phase one (2022-2024) focused on pome, stone, and berry fruits, installing agrivoltaic systems exceeding 1,700 kWp across five pilot sites. Phase two (2025 onwards) expands research to grasslands, arable farming, livestock integration, viticulture, and reforestation. The project investigates how semi-transparent and tracking photovoltaic modules can protect crops from extreme weather while generating electricity, maintaining agricultural viability while addressing land-use competition between energy and food production.
