Alby PtX is developing one of Sweden's largest green hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) production facilities in Alby, Ånge municipality. The project leverages local wind-generated renewable electricity to produce hydrogen through electrolysis, which is then converted to sustainable aviation fuel via power-to-liquid (PtL) processes. The facility is designed as an integrated energy and production system where by-products including heat, oxygen, and hydrogen are utilized by adjacent industries. Key partners include RES (primary developer), Prime Capital (project acquirer), and Norsk e-Fuel (equity partner). The project includes strategic partnerships with BigAkwa for aquaculture symbiosis and Ramboll as technical consultant. Located in an area with existing industrial infrastructure, abundant renewable energy from wind farms (Björnberget, Gubbaberget), and transformer capacity at Tovåsen, the facility supports Sweden's climate goals and positions the region as a pioneer in fossil-free industrial production.
