Ambition Community Energy

Founded in 2018, Ambition Community Energy is a social enterprise headquartered in Lawrence Weston, Bristol, United Kingdom specializing in Wind.

Ambition Community Energy CIC is a community interest company set up by residents of Lawrence Weston, Bristol, through the Ambition Lawrence Weston development trust. Its purpose is to develop, build and operate a 4.2 MW onshore wind turbine, England's largest onshore turbine at the time of construction and 100% community-owned. The company has no shareholders, and surplus electricity sales are reinvested into local regeneration, with funds intended to support a community development plan and a local community hub. Development was funded through grants, loans from Bristol and Bath Regional Capital, Thrive Renewables and other investors, and the project received planning permission in July 2020. Construction began in 2022 and the turbine began operating in 2023.
