About

Founded in 2024, BATSS Project is a ngo headquartered in Donostia San Sebastián, Spain specializing in Energy Storage.

BATSS is a Horizon Europe funded research initiative coordinated by a Spanish R&D organization specializing in advanced battery technologies. The project brings together 10 partners from Austria, France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland to transform the European battery value chain. The consortium develops modular battery systems with a Safe-by-Design approach, integrating Silicon Carbide-based power switches, advanced Battery Management Systems, and sustainable end-of-life solutions including automated disassembly and second-life exploration. Key focus areas include thermal and mechanical innovations, comprehensive modelling and simulation, life cycle analysis, and standardization activities in collaboration with CEN/CENELEC committees.
