BEPROSUMER is an independent, non-subsidized association founded by and for photovoltaic prosumers in Wallonia, Belgium. Originally launched as 'Touche pas à mes certificats verts' (Don't Touch My Green Certificates), the organization evolved to address broader challenges facing solar panel owners: grid disconnections due to overvoltages, compensation cycle disruptions, tariff reforms, and the approaching 2030 deadline for the 'meter running backwards' compensation system. The association operates on three core pillars: producing effective expertise, defending prosumers intensively, and transforming knowledge into concrete protection. It documents technical issues using real-time data (OpenWatt platform, P1 dongles), provides member assistance through ticketing and consultation, publishes educational content (podcast, FAQ, guides), negotiates with regulators and grid operators, and pursues legal action when necessary. Key achievements include postponing full prosumer tariff implementation from 2014 to 2024 (saving members millions of euros collectively), securing regional subsidies for 2022-2023, establishing proportional compensation for inverter disconnections, and preserving the 'meter running backwards' system until 2030. The organization now addresses interconnected challenges: grid stability, battery integration, HEMS (Home Energy Management Systems), vehicle-to-home technology, energy communities, negative electricity prices, and preparation for the post-2030 energy landscape. BeProsumer is 100% member-funded through €25 annual membership fees, employs approximately ten dedicated volunteers, and operates with complete transparency and independence. It serves as an indispensable interlocutor in Walloon energy debates, influencing policy through expertise, collective mobilization, and strategic advocacy.
