Borobotics is a Swiss startup founded in July 2023, originating from a research project at Zurich University of Applied Sciences. The company has developed Grabowski, an autonomous drilling robot designed to facilitate the installation of geothermal heating systems. The robot operates with minimal environmental impact, using only electricity and water, eliminating the need for diesel-consuming equipment like air compressors. Grabowski features a compact design (2.9 meters tall, 150 kg), can drill 135 mm diameter holes, and requires only 4-8 m² of space, enabling installation in gardens, parking garages, and basements. The company is currently in prototype refinement stage (Prototype 2.0) with planned pilot tests by mid-2026, targeting initial deployment in Switzerland. The business model focuses on drilling-as-a-service with per-meter fees rather than equipment sales. Co-founders include Hans-Jörg Dennig, Philipp Ganz, and Moritz Pill.
