The cooperative has constructed 19 larger PV installations with a total rated capacity of over 1.3 MWp, financed entirely through cooperative shares and member loans. Thirteen installations feed into the BergischGrün citizen electricity product, which is offered jointly with Solingen municipal utilities. The cooperative supplies renewable electricity to approximately 441 two-person households annually and commits to initiating renewable energy installations representing at least 50% of new customer consumption over five-year periods. In fiscal year 2023/24, regional installations provided 77% of total BergischGrün electricity, and in 2024 annual consumption was covered 100% by cooperative-owned PV systems.
