BürgerEnergiegenossenschaft Haßberge (BEG Haßberge) is a citizen energy cooperative established in 2012 to advance the energy transition in Haßberge District, Bavaria. The cooperative enables local citizens, municipalities, and businesses to invest in and benefit from renewable energy projects. The primary project is the Bürgerwindpark Sailershäuser Wald, comprising 10 Nordex N117-2.4 MW wind turbines with a total capacity of 24 MW, completed in 2015. The wind park generates approximately 52-55 million kWh annually and avoids over 600,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. The cooperative structure ensures regional value creation, with revenues remaining in the community. Members receive annual distributions based on project performance, with expected returns of 3-5% over the 20-year operational period. The cooperative operates under the supervision of GV Bayern and maintains an office in Haßfurt for member engagement and project information.
