About
Founded in 2019, Catalina is a private headquartered in Madrid, Spain specializing in Hydrogen.
Catalina is a large-scale green hydrogen production facility developed through a consortium led by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Enagás Renovable. The project utilizes abundant Spanish wind and solar energy combined with Power-to-X technology to produce renewable green hydrogen at 50,000 tonnes per annum capacity, which could cover nearly half the current hydrogen demand in Aragon, Catalonia, and Valencia. The project plans to install 500 MW of electrolyser capacity by 2028, scaling to 2 GW by 2030, supporting EU and Spanish hydrogen production targets. Catalina addresses hard-to-abate sectors including chemicals and shipping by replacing fossil fuels with green hydrogen. The project includes a comprehensive Local Development Plan with funding for educational initiatives, job creation targeting 4,000 positions, and scholarship programs in partnership with the University of Zaragoza and the Government of Aragon.
