About
Founded in 2022, CEEGS Project is a ngo headquartered in Seville, Spain specializing in Energy Storage, Geothermal, Solar.
CEEGS is a 3-year Horizon Europe-funded research initiative developing cross-sectoral technology for the energy transition. The project combines a renewable energy storage system based on transcritical CO2 cycles with CO2 storage in geological formations and geothermal heat extraction. The system delivers a negative CO2 footprint through permanent sequestration of stored CO2 in underground geological formations. The project progresses through multiple stages: Stage 1 (current, completed) achieved TRL4 with a 20 kW lab demonstration at Helmholtz Centre Dresden Rossendorf, addressing critical interface challenges between surface and subsurface components. Subsequent stages plan 100 kW (TRL6) and commercial-scale demonstrators. The technology enables large-capacity, cost-effective renewable energy storage suitable for electricity, heating, cooling, and grid stabilization applications.
