CEL Rural is a renewable energy company headquartered in Ávila, Spain specializing in Solar.
CEL Rural is a cooperative project cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund through the INTERREG VI A Spain-Portugal 2021-2027 program. The project aims to foster the deployment of renewable energy at rural level to strengthen sustainable and proximity-based energy systems in cross-border regions of the POCTEP space. It adopts innovative shared energy consumption models within local energy communities in rural environments. The project implements pilot installations to identify challenges and develops methodologies, guides, and training activities to transfer knowledge and capacity-build target audiences. Key objectives include overcoming technical, regulatory, and economic barriers to rural local energy community deployment, creating green jobs, and supporting population retention in rural territories through distributed generation by prosumers and local energy communities.
