About

Founded in 2024, COSMIC is a government headquartered in Freiburg, Germany specializing in Solar, Wind, Energy Storage.

COSMIC is a collaborative European project funded by Horizon Europe, bringing together over 20 partners including industry leaders, NGOs, academic institutions, and local governments. The project leverages artificial intelligence and big data technologies to drive energy optimization and resource efficiency across multiple sectors. Operating through two competitive Open Calls, COSMIC identifies and supports innovative solutions from startups and SMEs, integrating them into technological platforms and testing them in 15 real-life pilot sites across 6 European countries. The initiative addresses eight innovation areas: energy optimization in buildings and residential settings, industrial energy efficiency, smart charging solutions in ports for electric ships, water treatment optimization, renewable energy communities and predictive maintenance, circular economy and waste reduction, energy poverty mitigation through smart HVAC systems, and renovation wave support through digital twins. COSMIC aims to deliver 10-20% reductions in energy consumption and increased renewable energy adoption while positioning the EU as a leader in AI-driven sustainability.
