About
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sonnenenergie (DGS) is a ngo headquartered in Berlin, Germany specializing in Solar.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sonnenenergie (DGS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing solar energy and renewable technologies in Germany. Since 2016, DGS operates the PVplug working group, which focuses on removing barriers to plug-in solar devices (Steckersolargeräte) and promoting their standardization. PVplug comprises over 50 engineers, scientists, lawyers, and entrepreneurs working on a volunteer basis. The group successfully advocated for regulatory changes and VDE standards (VDE AR-N 4105, VDE 0100-551-1, E DIN VDE V 0126-95) that now permit safe installation of plug-in solar systems up to 800W on standard household outlets. The initiative has contributed to widespread adoption, with over 1.5 million plug-in solar devices now in use across Germany. PVplug was recognized with the Georg Salvamoser Prize in 2018 and the pv magazine award for top innovation, reflecting its role in advancing consumer-accessible renewable energy.
