Diomedeo (Datasets for Innovative Marine Energy Developments from Earth Observation) is an ESA-funded project aimed at transforming marine renewable energy development through satellite data and Earth Observation analytics. The initiative provides high-resolution, near-real-time insights into tidal current velocities, bathymetry, sea surface height, wave characteristics, and environmental parameters to support technology developers in identifying optimal deployment sites, reducing risks, and enabling multi-use co-location strategies. The project addresses critical challenges in marine spatial planning, environmental compliance, and offshore monitoring, delivering validated tools that support the full lifecycle of Marine Renewable Energy projects from concept to decommissioning.
