Ecoosol is a non-profit cooperative established in 2021 with the mission to install, maintain, and operate photovoltaic installations to produce renewable electricity and improve the ecological balance of the Jura bernois region. The cooperative operates transparently with one vote per member regardless of capital contribution, enabling democratic decision-making. It supports electric vehicle charging infrastructure coupled with solar installations to encourage low-carbon mobility and regional energy autonomy. Members invest in shares (CHF 1,000 each) earning 1.5% annual interest and receive preferential EV charging rates. The cooperative has operational projects totaling 244 kW capacity with over 585,000 kWh produced, additional projects under construction (96 kW), and planned installations (65 kW). Funding is achieved through participatory financing, allowing citizens and businesses to support projects while maintaining ownership stake.
