Ecornet is an Ecological Research Network comprising eight independent nonprofit institutes specializing in environmental and sustainability research. Founded between 1977 and 1995, the institutes operate outside traditional academic structures to address complex sustainability challenges. Research areas include renewable energy and energy efficiency, climate protection, circular economy, sustainable mobility, biodiversity conservation, sustainable land use, and environmental policy development.
