Ecucad is a joint venture between Romande Energie and the Service intercommunal de l'électricité (SIE) that develops and operates a district heating (CAD) network in the Ecublens and Chavannes-près-Renens area. The network is powered by wood energy sourced from local forests and uses cryogenic technology for pipe connections. The system serves over 1,000 kW of connected capacity across residential, commercial, and institutional buildings, with planned expansion to 13 MW. Ecucad handles customer subsidy applications and coordinates with local municipalities including Ecublens.
