About
Founded in 2021, EIC-Epoch is a ngo headquartered in Luleå, Sweden specializing in Hydrogen.
EPOCH is a ground-breaking research project funded by the EU's Horizon EIC Pathfinder program (Grant 101070976) addressing green hydrogen production, transportation, and storage challenges. The project develops a novel electrocatalytic device that produces green hydrogen directly linked to liquid organic hydrogen carrier loading, enabling economic hydrogen storage and distribution. Unlike conventional water electrolysis, EPOCH modifies both cathodic and anodic reactions using lignin derivatives for selective oxidation at the anode, significantly reducing energy intensity. The project integrates multidisciplinary experts in electrocatalysis, materials synthesis, and engineering, partnering with major industrial players in energy transition and LOHC technology. Designed for flexible integration with biorefineries and pulp & paper industries, EPOCH aims to valorize lignin waste streams and link industrial sectors to the hydrogen economy.
