Einsiedlernaturstromag is a cooperative society operating a biogas facility in Trachslau, Switzerland. The facility converts renewable agricultural feedstocks—primarily cattle and pig manure, as well as horse manure from local farms in the Einsiedeln region—into electricity and heat. The facility processes approximately 10,000 m³ of cattle slurry, 300 m³ of pig slurry, and 1,000 m³ of cattle and sheep manure annually, supplemented with green waste from the Maschinenring Etzel & Linth cooperative. After meeting internal heating needs for the digesters, excess heat of approximately 400,000 kWh/a is supplied via district heating to the Frauenkloster Au convent. The cooperative was formally established in 2010 and is supported by 48 shareholders as of 2012.
