Founded in 2024, Energiegenossenschaft Schwerte is a co-op headquartered in Schwerte, Germany with approximately 1-10 employees specializing in Solar, Wind.

Energiegenossenschaft Schwerte eG is a cooperative energy venture established by citizens of Schwerte to produce renewable energy and enable local participation in the energy transition. The cooperative is registered as of May 31, 2024, and operates under a model where members become co-owners of energy assets and share in returns. The first project is a 1 MW rooftop photovoltaic installation on the city's Rathaus II and construction yard building, expected to generate approximately 800,000 kWh annually. The cooperative works in partnership with Stadtwerke Schwerte for operational management and technical expertise. Members contribute a minimum of €500 and participate democratically through an annual general assembly (one member, one vote). The cooperative aims to support Schwerte's 2030 target of sourcing 80% of household electricity from renewable energy. Future projects are planned to include additional solar and wind installations.
