The platform calculates regional energy mix percentages, tracks EEG payment flows as indicators of local value creation, and makes raw data publicly available through CSV downloads. Energymap is maintained on a volunteer basis by members of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sonnenenergie (German Solar Energy Society) and uses openly licensed mapping data from OpenStreetMap and OpenGeoDB.
