Enessert is a cooperative founded in August 2023 with the mission to support and participate in projects addressing climate emergency challenges, particularly energy transition. The cooperative established Switzerland's first local electrical community (CEL) managed by a cooperative in Canton de Vaud, focused on the commune of Essertines-sur-Rolle. Operating as a pilot project supported by the State of Vaud and partnering with UNIL, Enessert facilitates local electricity trading arrangements that allow participants to negotiate exchange prices, receive network usage discounts, and gain better control over energy consumption. The cooperative manages electricity data collection and analysis to support transition efforts and identify improvement opportunities. As of February 2026, the cooperative had 23 members with plans for expansion after the initial implementation phase.
