ForWind is a joint research center established in 2003 by the Universities of Oldenburg, Hannover, and Bremen (joined in 2009), supported by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture. ForWind operates the WindLab facility in Oldenburg featuring a turbulent wind tunnel. The center participates in over 35 research projects with 60+ partners from academia and industry, addressing cost reduction in offshore wind installation and maintenance, digital twin development for asset lifecycle management, and integration of renewable generation into European power networks.
