About
H2vorOrt is a co-op headquartered in Berlin, Germany specializing in Hydrogen.
H2vorOrt is a comprehensive transformation initiative involving more than 45 gas supply companies that collectively operate nearly 60 percent of Germany's gas distribution network. The initiative, developed in collaboration with DVGW (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water) and VKU (Association of Local Utilities), is committed to transforming gas distribution networks into hydrogen-ready infrastructure. The project addresses decarbonization of heating and process heat, which account for 60 percent of Germany's final energy consumption. H2vorOrt has developed standardized planning tools (Gasnetzgebietstransformationsplan or GTP) to guide the transition toward climate-neutral hydrogen supply by 2045, leveraging existing gas infrastructure to efficiently supply hydrogen to approximately 1.8 million industrial and commercial customers and nearly half of German households. The initiative includes testing hydrogen admixture feasibility (currently testing 30 percent hydrogen in network laboratories) and developing transformation pathways for regional, secure supply of climate-neutral gases.
