H2watt is a cross-border collaborative project aimed at preparing the economy on both sides of the border for the opportunities and requirements of hydrogen technology as a key enabler of the energy transition. The project focuses on practical hydrogen applications in the Wadden Sea region, including hydrogen-powered vessels, refueling infrastructure, and regional hydrogen production from renewable energy. Key project components include hydrogen system analysis, storage solutions, fuel cell development, and integration into maritime transport and building heating systems. The project involves partnerships with communities on the islands of Ameland and Borkum, maritime operators, engineering firms, and research institutions to demonstrate real-world hydrogen applications and support regional decarbonization goals.
