KG to operate a citizen-owned wind turbine, financial constraints forced a pivot in business model. The organization now facilitates crowdfunding (Schwarmfinanzierung) participation in the WEA 16 wind turbine operated by NOTUS energy at the Dachsberg wind park. Through a sponsorship agreement with NOTUS, Havelwind e.V. (a nonprofit association registered in Potsdam) distributes annual funding—beginning 2025 with a minimum of €10,000 per year—to support local projects advancing the energy transition and climate protection in the region. The single turbine generates approximately 10,000 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions annually and supplies electricity to approximately 15,000 residents.
