About
Founded in 2021, Hghh is a private headquartered in Hamburg, Germany specializing in Hydrogen.
The Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub is a green hydrogen production project located at the former Moorburg coal-fired power plant site in Hamburg, Germany. The project is a consortium of Luxcara (an independent clean energy asset manager founded in 2009) and Hamburger Energiewerke (a municipal utility serving Hamburg with district heating and energy). The facility will feature a 100 MW alkaline electrolyser supplied by Siemens Energy, designed to produce approximately 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually by splitting water using renewable electricity from wind and solar power. Commercial operation is scheduled to commence in 2027. The site benefits from strategic infrastructure including connections to 380 kV and 110 kV transmission networks, proximity to the Elbe River, and location within Hamburg's port and industrial areas. Generated hydrogen will serve industrial decarbonization, port operations, and mobility applications. The project also captures approximately 13 MW of waste heat for district heating supply. A companion initiative, the Hamburg Hydrogen Industrial Network (HH-WIN), will construct 60 km of hydrogen pipelines to distribute the fuel regionally. The project has received over 250 million euros in joint funding from the German Federal Government and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg under the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) program.
