About
Founded in 2027, Hydrogen-lab is a government headquartered in Chemnitz, Germany specializing in Hydrogen.
The Fraunhofer Hydrogen Lab Görlitz is a research platform and infrastructure facility on the Innovation Campus Görlitz. It focuses on innovative solutions along the hydrogen value chain, including hydrogen generation and storage, fuel cell applications for mobility and stationary use, component and stack evaluation, digitalization, production processes, and certification. The facility will have approximately 10 MW electrical connection capacity and is expected to commence operations in 2027. It leverages synergies from the competencies of the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology (IWU) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES). The lab features containerized modular components including PEM electrolyzers (120 kg H2/day capacity), hydrogen purification systems, storage tanks, and an 800 kW PEM fuel cell system from Ballard, with multiple testing stands for electrolyzer evaluation under industrial-scale continuous operation.
