About
Founded in 2021, HYDROGENi is a ngo headquartered in Trondheim, Norway specializing in Hydrogen.
HYDROGENi is a government-funded research centre led by SINTEF Energy Research that spearheads hydrogen and ammonia research and innovation to support Norway's hydrogen roadmap and 2050 net-zero goals. The centre brings together 46 partners from research and industry, with 35 PhD/postdoc students and over 100 MSc/BSc candidates. Key initiatives include the NORHyWAY spin-off project, which aims to increase Norwegian green hydrogen production to 37,081 tonnes per year by 2030 through four local hydrogen value chains, representing nearly one billion euros in investment. Research focuses on cost-effective and scalable production, safety and material integrity, and transport and storage across Norway and Europe. HYDROGENi hosts leading hydrogen conferences and estimates green hydrogen can reduce Norwegian industrial emissions by 424,000 tonnes CO2 annually by 2035.
