Hyregio is an orchestrated cloud-based platform for networked regional hydrogen hubs developed by FLD Technologies. The core innovation is the mGHGm (materialized greenhouse gas mitigation) process, which uses microwave-assisted plasma pyrolysis to split biomethane into hydrogen and solid biocarbon. Unlike conventional CCS methods that inject CO2 underground under pressure, Hyregio immobilizes carbon as harmless solid material geologically. The process requires only 25% of the electrical energy needed for standard electrolysis and operates without deionized water. Biogas plants are upgraded to produce green hydrogen, electricity, heating, cooling, and green CO2 simultaneously. The modular, pressureless biomethane separation yields 99%+ methane concentration. Hyregio enables sector coupling at municipal levels, flexible switching between electricity and hydrogen production based on market conditions, and data-driven optimization through cloud analytics. A typical 250 kW biogas plant can supply 350 households. The system achieves negative CO2 footprints by capturing atmospheric CO2 previously removed via photosynthesis during biomass growth and permanently storing it as solid carbon (1 tonne carbon = ~3.6 tonnes CO2 equivalent storage).
