Icarenest is a Belgian association established in 1992, originally focused on promoting cultural diversity and improving North-South relations through former Médecins Sans Frontières members. The organization has evolved to address energy sustainability and climate challenges. The I-Care Nest concept brings together complementary themes: Habitat, Energy, Mobility, and Well-being. The project features an experimental autonomous habitat prototype designed to reduce energy and water consumption through integrated renewable energy systems including geothermal, solar, photovoltaic, and wind power, combined with optimized construction techniques. The prototype site is located at Parc Paysager du Gosson (Maison des Terrils) in Saint-Nicolas, Belgium. The organization promotes local-scale renewable energy generation, behavioral change toward reduced energy consumption, and improved quality of life.
