KeepWarm is an EU-funded project launched in April 2018 under the Horizon 2020 programme (grant agreement N784966). The initiative brings together eleven project partners from seven countries (Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Latvia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Ukraine) to accelerate investments in modernising District Heating Systems (DHS). The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by improving system operations and promoting a switch to renewable energy sources and less-polluting fuels. KeepWarm provides strategic development, consultancy, and knowledge transfer related to efficient energy use, renewable energy integration, and energy planning. Services include in-depth energy audits, feasibility studies, operational optimisation studies, spatial modelling, capacity building for DHS operators, and support for developing climate action plans. The consortium works with cities, regions, DH companies, policy-makers, engineers, and local authorities to implement pilot projects and establish best practices for sustainable heating and cooling across the region.
